I applaud people like and Felt. Your jobs are to report criminals, and make sure they get the punishment that the criminals deserve. People who say Mark was out of line in giving away that information are wrong. Had Felt kept that information on Nixon, knowing that it existed, that would be against his whole reason of joining the FBI. Many people have put him down, saying he was out of line. No, he was in line. He was putting away criminals, and that's his job. Your political affiliation shouldn't matter. It should not be illegal to release that, like many have said. So, Felt, I support what you did, and stand behind you at all times.

I tend to agree. Think about what was the original mission of the FBI. It was to deal with felonies that occurred over state lines that local law enforcement officials were ill equipped to deal with. In theory the DC capital police would have jurisdiction but did they ever do anything about the Nixon administration breaking the law?

I don't see anything wrong with bringing down a corrupt administration with a president that was partly nuts. Nixon actually toyed with the idea of dropping an atomic bomb on north Vietnam!

Felt is pathetic, his family is pathetic and there was nothing noble or heroic about his leaking. He should have come out in the open. That would have been worthy of respect. As it is now, he is just sickening.
So since you respect all older people, does that mean you respect Bush 1?

He actually did as I recall. He just decided Deep Throat was a better name for himself than his real one. Which doesn't surprise since the shadow that followed that person was of a pornographic element. He could have gone to the press but he didn't . He was peeved because he didn't get the post he wanted. He was probably part of it too! Would that make him a hero if he was?

The problem with Felt comin out would have resulted in his credibility attacked. They would have digged up any dirt on Felt, thus trying to discredit his findings as accusations from a mad man. The Nixon and LBJ Administrations did this a couple times. This was back in the day when treatment for depression meant you were cuckoo.
