after all--the right has called them the big spenders all this time.

That's what you get when you let the government do what the market should be doing ten times more effectively.

or............we could create a constitutional amendment that says the gov must balance their budget......now THATS a good idea. i dont think the private sector can fight a war for us...or provide welfare for people that need it....

a balanced budget would force the gov to be efficient....either raise taxes and (*)(*)(*)(*) people off...make them think about where their money is going....create inflation and get your butt booted from people being pissed, etc.
