Hey everyone, I just wanted to say hi to everyone, as I'm new here. I previously posted at www.historychannel.com but was censored one to many times for non-offensive posts. I hope that doesnt happen here.

A little bit about myself: I'm a 19 year old college student living in Tucson, AZ. I'm originally from Central Illinois, but moved here a year ago after a tough bout with a nasty drug addiction.

I'm not a Democrat, I'm not a Republican, I'm not a liberal, I'm not a conservative, I'm a Nuisance, and call B.S. when I see it. I dont stick to party lines, I think for myself. Although, I'll admit, I do lean a little more right than I do left, but at the same time, I think the left has its positives.

Anyways, thats about it. I'm looking forward to finding a little "political chat home" and I hope this is it. As long as I'm not censored like I was a historychannel.com, I'll be around for awhile.

I realize that posts with curses or whatever will be deleted, and I expect that, but will anyone be able to delete my post that isnt a moderator?

Is that a rating system based on how many people reply to your posts or what?

Only moderators can delete posts and thats very rare and only on extreme occassions. The stars represent your rank based on the number of your posts.

The stars under our names are simply earned by posting. Click on a name and you can find out what that person wants you to know about them.

Read our forum guidelines and you'll be fine. Please try to attack the post and not the poster. Saying, "that post is stupid" doesn't go very far in debate though. Too often, people think they are scoring points by coming up with clever insults. This kind of thing has escalated of late. Please don't add to it.

Keep in mind that our forum has grandmothers and kids as members.

Note the difference between fact and your opinion. Be prepared to back up anything you state as fact.

PM any of the moderators, anytime. We'll try to help.

Almost all the posts I've deleted were accidental doubles. If you break a rule, we'll usually PM you to tell you what was wrong. I've never had anyone get mad at me, but I haven't been a mod for long.

Stick around long enough to get to know people and it's more fun.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I look forward to hanging around here. From what I've seen here already, I'm pretty impressed. Seems like some intelligent people are here, and I hope that I can add something to conversations, and that people can learn a little something from me, as I hope to do from you.

BTW, Svenskapoika is actually a composite of Swedish and - suprisingly - Finnish. Svenska is Swedish, but poika means Boy in Finnish.

(En) Svenska pojke would be (a) Swedish boy in Swedish.. Ruotsalainen poika would be the same in Finnish..

Heh. This must be the first time, when I get some 'real' benefit of my mandatory studies in Swedish. Huray for the Finnísh educational system.
