What kind of crap is this? While I think flag burning is extremely disrespectful, no matter what nationality the flag is, our right to burn flags, I feel, is protected by the Constitution.

I guess I would consider it a form of hate speech, and I would have to protect the rights of flag burners. However, I think that any town in the US can make it's own laws regarding public property and burning pretty much anything. I don't think a typical flag burner will get much out of burning a flag in his own backyard grill.
I seriously believe that if it were left up to the voters, the flag would be protected. I wouldn't mind. There are battlegrounds where it's unlawful to dig for relics such as buttons because it's considered desecration of the "graves." I think the emotions involved are very similar.

You shouldn't be allowed to burn a flag. And where can I get one of those toilets that can flush a Koran? Could you imagine never having a clogged toilet again?

Quote:
The flag itself, a symbol, being burned, should NOT be the issue. What should be decided on is common sense laws that prevent people from irresponsibly burning the flag or any other symbol for that matter. Usually that is taken care of at the local level but preventing the destruction of a symbol as part of a protest or statement is obviously an infringement of that person's first amendment guarantees. I think having a nation that has such freedom is a testament to our commitment to the bill of rights. You people who waste time being concerned about our flag burning are weak Americans in my opinion. You need to be able to rise above it and honor individual liberty. Speaking of taking dumps on holy books I think I might go and do that right now. |

I would mind...I deeply value our constitutional rights.
