i dont know what kind of wealthy maddames and lords you here are, (as you try to put yourself as successfull), but i own a business and i see people looking for work every day. if you want to live with your heads in your butts and blame all jobless for lack of education or wrong lifestyle, that's your choice, but i see government beurocrats trying to cause recession, i dont see bush gaining enough military with good economy, i see people walking in the streets who have no home, no place to go. other then to join the military

who makes more and why
there's good and theres evil. there are people who create and as a result make more, such as bill gates, and there are people who destroy and make more such as war industry people.

same with those who make less - some because they were lazy to learn, and some because they just didnt have the right conections - like for example a talented artist who only later realised that in order to become famous you need to have right conections.

I respect hard labor to, but anyone in sufficiently good shape can perform it. It will never be worth more than brainpower, which is what those "overpaid" office workers supposedly provide.

Per capita income has steadily risen, even after adjusting for inflation (though the lower you are on the totem pole, the less that is true). One of the reasons we are "slaves" is that we buy so much stuff. Take houses: One reason most people have mortgages is that houses cost a lot more, relative to income, than they did 60 or 70 years ago. But houses are ALSO about twice as big, on average. A house from the 1920s might not have a garage; a house from the 1940s might have a one-car garage; these days, a THREE-car garage is becoming standard.

If you don't want to be a slave to your job, don't buy more stuff than you really need. Buy a small house, a used car, and buy groceries instead of going to restaurants. You'd be amazed at how quickly all that "slave" stuff falls away.

(of course, I don't follow my own advice very closely. I've got a mortgage, and I buy new cars. But that's my choice — AND my only debt).
