Default It's always USA whining "nobody likes us...boo hoo hoo".

I'm fed up hearing how hard done by America is.

You are liked on your merits and disliked for your faults. I could go into them here, but won't bother.

But PLEASE stop complaining that the world is unfair to you. If you can't see how you've been a bad schoolyard bully then your head is buried.

Default Yeah, good call

We're such a bully, even though we give 40% of the humantarian aid given IN THE WORLD.

When I was in grade school, I dont remember the shoolyard bully handing out lunch money to those in need, do you?

Default You're confusing people of America with nation-state.

You're confusing the people of America, many of whom are very good-hearted and give generously to things like Tsunami relief, with the country of America, which has been acting like a bully, and which actually gives very little. Oh, in dollar amounts our 'little' seems large compared to poorer countries but, as I said in another similar discussion:

When the world’s governments met at the Earth summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, they adopted a programme for action under the auspices of the United Nations — Agenda 21. Amongst other things, this included an Official Development Assistance (ODA) aid target of 0.7% of gross national product (GNP) for rich nations, roughly 22 members of the OECD, known as the Development Assistance Committee (DAC).
ODA is basically aid from the governments of the wealthy nations... The main objective of ODA is to promote development. It is therefore a kind of measure on the priorities that governments themselves put on such matters.

Default Who is whining?

I don't care if other countries like us or not. They sure do love to take our money don't they? So what does that make them? No whining here. I am fine with it.

You know...giving money doesn't give a person or a country the right to be abusive. The world perceives many US policies as abuse. While I don't necessarily or always agree, I do understand the resentment at the big thick entangling strings attached to US "friendship".

Default It's not so much bullying, either,

although that's part of it. And meddling. It's also the perceived hypocrisy of America's foreign policy. It's hard to figure out logically why some countries are allies and some are not. Because it sure isn't based on "rights" or "democracy" or anything else we supposedly stand for. Even look at Saddam. Saddam was a petty tyrant since the day he took power. For a while we simply ignored him. Then we cuddled up to him for a decade, even though he both had and used WMD's (Rumsfeld loved the WMD's back then). Then we moved him out of Kuwait, but were basically fine with staying in power. Then, although we bombed a facility or two, we mostly ignored him again. Then we decided he had to go. It's rather confusing.

While I don't really care what other countries think, I kind of get it. If China or someone were the only Superpower and acted the same way we do we would hate them. And they wouldn't care!

Okie, dokie, Hobbie. We'll be sure and let YOUR country solve some of the world's problems and step up to the plate militarily when needed. Think you'll be willing to do that? OR is your country one of those who stands back and watches from the sidelines and complains about how others do it? Actually, we would LOVE it if more countries would get off their lazy butts and help out. Remember.....you gotta be in the game before you get any criticism.

I simply understand that the world is going to complain about us...the U.S......either way. We're usually (*)(*)(*)(*)ed by the world when we do....and when we don't. In other worlds, we cannot please the world, so we don't try.

Well allright then. IF you think it's "very little" our government gives to the world....then I say we should keep it all home from now on and spend it on our own people.

After all, it's our hard-earned tax collars. And NOBODY appreciates it anyway.

Oh you mean we should just go ahead and send our tax dollars to a country whose corrupt leadership takes it and spends it on themselves....and NOT their people.....NOT the intended purpose? You mean......THOSE STRINGS?????

What do you think? That we have a big S-U-C-K-E-R written on our foreheads?
