I'd like to know some opnions about China. They seem to be on a massive increase on their buildup of military aircraft, tanks and Armored vehicles. I check all the time on www.defesanet.com.br, and they are buying hundreds of Russia's Su-27's fighters, and also buying the more advanced Su-30. This and other things seems to be causing some concern to US gov., the USA is planning on increasing their presence on the Pacific to show that we are there and are watching. I think personally that in the next 20 years or even less, the Chinese are going to be rivaling the US military might, and possibly upgrading by great extent their space projects. I know that the Chinese just got their 1st man in space but I'd love to see a Race to Mars between
China and the USA. It would make Human technology advance extremely rapidly. I want to know everyone's opnion on the Buildup and subject.

They cant hope to win an arms race with us. But the fact that they are trying means fewer resources to pour into their economy.

You are right...they could very well be the next USSR. Where is the USSR now?

In short, they are buying technology that is obsolete by our standards. They cant produce quality military hardware on their own...for that reason they will always be a distant 2nd to us. Even to Europe.

If the US stood still, it would still take China decades to catch up to us. And we are not standing still.

Their space program is just NOW getting started...we had our's going over 40 years ago.

The PRC is dangerous enough that we cant start a war with them. But ultimately it comes down to this: While they could seriously injure us, we could completely destroy them. As long as that remains true, they will not provoke us militarily.

Fortunately, their economic ascendency is dependent on us. So they wont antagonize their golden goose too much. This is a no win situation for them, because the only way they will ever really be able to compete with us is to become like us. In which case they will no longer be a threat anyway.

Well, we can kill much more efficiently and at a higher rate than them, but, then again, there's a lot more of them to kill, so its a tricky one...to be sure.
