Default Study: Global warming bill could cost 2.4 million jobs, $1,250 per household

the destruction of the usa is nearing completion...all we need now is the healthcare bill to pass, and the cap n trade in action....and obama 1 more term.

Study: Global warming bill could cost 2.4 million jobs, $1,250 per household

A carbon emissions plan under consideration in Washington aimed at global warming and climate change could cost the U.S. economy between 1.8 million and 2.4 million jobs over the next two decades.

The study, released Wednesday by the National Association of Manufacturers and the American Council for Capital Formation, worries about plans of Democrats and the Obama administration plans that would put caps and fees on carbon emissions and pollution.

The business study says the climate bill would increase costs that would be passed onto consumers and that a U.S. household would lose as much as $250 annually by 2020 and $1,250 by 2030. Also, according to the study, the GDP could lose 2.4 percent of its value by 2030.

Environmental groups discounted the business study’s conclusions, saying the climate and energy plans will bolster alternative energy development and production, reduce carbon emissions and pollution and reduce U.S. reliance on fossil fuels and foreign oil.

considering that the consumerism bubble has burst and people are buying less anyways, not as much manufacturing should be done anyways. The markets have expanded and they need to shrink now.

And yes, these jobs will go into newer, non manufacturing ones.

It's cyclical.

The private sector creates jobs, not the government, except more administrative jobs for massive health care reform, etc.

Obama and Congress will try and ram this stuff through, no matter how unpopular it is.

It is beyond me how anyone can be so short sighted to think that investing (yes, its an investment, not wasting money) in green technology is a bad thing. How simple do you have to be not to realise that environmental disasters have economic consequences?

You dont have to believe everything the republicans tell you. It wont make you liberal or a commie even if you believe in science. (Sadly, i think this is the main reason why there are so many gw deniers and environment haters: they consider environmentalism a liberal thing and therefore they have to oppose it.)

Smart businesses already know that pollution = waste, and that reducing their pollution "footprint" increases profits.

I was made, by the EPA, to fit a solvent recycling plant into a business I ran. It paid for itself in less than a year.
