Default .

The question sort of assumes that both parents have the same political beliefs, no? Sorry to nitpik, but that situation applies to me.

My father is more conservative on many social issues than I am. My mother is a bit more liberal. On national fiscal issues, I am probably as conservative or more conservative than either of them. On personal fiscal issues, I have no problem with long term debt, as long as it is for income producing assets. They object to my use of long (and short) term debt and have ALWAYS stuck to short term financing.

You think that confuses you, imagine how I feel. So, how should I vote?

Default hard to say

My dad is definately more conservative than I am, but I would say my mom is liberal. I'm not sure how liberal b/c she's not that political. I thyink I have a bit of both.

Default they're more conservative, definitely

My whole family is WAY more conservative than I am. I don't know, might have something to do with me being more of a city person while they're all out in the 'burbs. Trying to talk to them objectively about anything having to do with religion or homosexuality is like talking to a brick wall. Frightening, in a way. However, they all see the Iraq situation as a nightmare, so it'll be interesting to see how they actually vote.

Default Good Topic

I voted "about the same" because I'm slightly more liberal than my mother but slightly more conservative than my father.

This is a tough one for me. I decided "a little more liberal."
My mom really isn't into politics but as a disabled woman, she tends to prefer Democrats because she's afraid Pubs might leave her to die in the streets. But she's a bit more conservative than me on a lot of social issues because she's Christian. Thankfully she's a Methodist, so she's not that much more conservative.
My dad claims to be conservative, but I think he's more of a libertarian. And as he gets older, he's reluctantly beginning to come to terms with some fiscally liberal things. But he'll always call himself a conservative.
Strangely my dad and I tend to be very much alike politically. We're both, in old-school terms, Jeffersonians as opposed to Hamiltonians. My dad is more okay with war and less compassionate than I am (or he acts like it), but he really hates Bush and strangely I don't, though the neocons p!$$ me off. My dad really liked Reagan and kind of liked Clinton but seems to despise anyone named Bush and can't stand Carter, believes in protectionism, is fairly indifferent toward war, despises safety nets other than social security, and hates religion. I have things I like and despise about all the above-mentioned presidents, don't believe in protectionism, hate war and don't accept it in cases where it is absolutely necessary (no, the war in Iraq is not such a case IMO), believe in reforming safety nets and better directing them toward those who truly need them, and have a love/hate relationship with religion.
Frankly, I'm just confused. Personally I think my dad likes the word conservative (because my grandma hates it) and I like the word liberal (because my father hates it).
My father also advocates much more than I do revolution. God, I love my dad!

I never talk to my parents about politics.
