the second one, I disagree with strongly. Its not moral to take from someone against their will. Im sure you claim to be a humanitarian... but its easy to say when its someone elses cash. I would never want to live by your "morals".

Yep. He completely cancelled the entire welfare program. Welfare used to be available permenantly and available to anybody with no income. Now we have AFDC, WIC, free school lunches for kids of parents below the poverty line, and food stamps. They all target families with young children, and you can't stay on any of them indefinitely. The benefit amounts haven't been adjusted for inflation for like 2 decades. What they call 'welfare' these days is just the bare minimum required to prevent children from going without food, shelter or clothing if it's even enough to cover those things. When the GOP tries to use the Democrats limited support of the bare minimum we can possibly get away with morally as a society to try to make it out like we're a party of people with our hands out, it's ridiculous.

Democrats don't support public assistance because we want to GET public assistance, we support it because we want to GIVE assistance to people who need it.

The thing is, I don't think anybody who really had the facts at hand would oppose giving a few cents a day to prevent kids in this country from starving... The only reason anybody opposes AFDC and stuff is because some people mislead them into assuming that we're talking about huge numbers of people living high on their dime or whatever... It's politics preventing us from doing something that we all know needs to be done.

Yes, that's why Bill Clinton took so much heat for placing Welfare Reform into law..... But I have seen articles later in date where he is also claiming that it worked, that it cut people on Welfare in half.... But then you wonder, okay, well it was cut in half but what became of those people? Kind of like a study that was not completed, the most important part of the study was left out, no one followed the people....
