close. None of our politicians are hereditary. Every single one is elected, or is appointed by someone that is elected.

Those rules are defined on a state level though...some states DO dole out electoral votes proportionally. And any state can chage the rules if it doesnt like them.

Ok, then that = democracy. The officials are hereditary, but have no real power. So it does not
matter if they are hereditary.
