Ya, these communist kids are mostly a joke. I don't even listen to them anymore, seeing that the 20th century proved communism an utter failure.
But if they want to waste their time promoting a failed political system, they can be my guest.

It's a phase. Almost without exception they are in their teens or early 20s. Most of them will grow out of it.
I cant really throw stones...I was actually much worse when I was their age. The ones that are serious are deserving of responses...which is most of them IMO. If someone had explained exactly WHY communism was bad when I was their age, I would not have stayed a communist as long as I did. But the typical argument I got was "just because...", which is no argument at all. |

I also went through a pro-communist phase during my highschool years, which happened to be right around the same time as the fall of the USSR. My simple notion of communism as a society where all share equally the resources of the world seemed like a utopian dream. I soon came to the conclusion that communism could only truly succeed on a small-scale. Large-scale communist societies like the USSR would eventually fail because humanity is far too corrupt to handle this kind of equality.

The 20th century didn't really prove communism wrong. The USSR wasn't communist if communism is to be defined by Marx, it was a proletarian dictatorship. It also needs a world revolution, it's like a train running on two different sizes of track otherwise. To be honest, the 20th century has proved the current system wrong, nations can't/won't act together to combat problems like global warming and terrorism, in Africa people die every few seconds of starvation whilst rich countries have obesity problems, power still lies with wealth, how can you call that a success?

because young people don't know a (*)(*)(*)(*) thing about anything. So it's excuseable. You just pat them on the head and move on. I went to a VERY liberal University. Nearly all the people I knew were hard core Dems, socialist leaning and/or communist leaning. Now, 13 years later, not a single one is (that I know of). Some are still Dems, of course, but right in the middle of the road. Funny how experience causes that. When you get out to the real world and you see how truly worthless many people are you abandon the notion of working for their benefit.
