Default "The World's Most Honest Political Quiz"

Without one of my boring, prolonged introductions, here is the link to the quiz, followed by my results:

http://danq.lunarpages.com/polquiz/

You are most like a Classic Conservative. (BTW, a classic conservative is a foreign policy and fiscal liberal but a social conservative.)

LIBERAL INTERNATIONALIST

(Last updated 4/18/05)

Liberal internationalists believe in standard neo-liberal ideas such as a women's right to an abortion, gun control, more welfare programs for the poor, abolition of the death penalty, and increased regulation of businesses. Liberal internationalists also believe that the United Nations plays a vital role in maintaining peace and spreading democracy to the world. These were the ideals of the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

MAINSTREAM CONSERVATIVE

(Last updated 4/18/05)

Mainstream conservatives, like paleoconservatives, support family values and economic conservatism. They are big supporters of "small government" when it comes to welfare programs and economic regulation. However, they support the neoconservative foreign policy, which states that America, as the world's last remaining superpower, is responsible for spreading democracy to the world. Most are loyal Republicans and are willing to compromise with the neoconservatives who hold power now. A prime example is the late President Ronald Reagan.

Relevant Major Political Parties: Republican Party

Relevant Third Parties: Constitution Party

CLASSIC CONSERVATIVE

(Last updated 4/18/05)

Classic conservatives (also called Burkean or European conservatives) believe that a "natural aristocracy" should govern a nation. They are against excessive political and economic freedoms, and favor strong institutions such as the Church and the State. They are socially conservative and economically liberal, and are against an internationalist foreign policy.

Classic conservatives and paleoconservatives are usually considered the same thing. For purposes of this quiz, I separate paleoconservatives as those who place greater trust in capitalism, such as the members of the Constitution Party.

Classic conservatism was never popular in America, although its influence can be felt in American neoconservatism and paleoconservatism. Classic conservatism is also found in Catholic politics, and the late Pope John Paul II is a prime example of a classic conservative.

Relevant Third Parties: Constitution Party, Green Party

Yes, that describes my politics rather well, and I'm not surprised that you're a mainstream conservative. I was surprised, however, that the test claimed that JavaBlack is a liberal internationalist. I thought that he would be a mainstream liberal.

PALEOCONSERVATIVE

(Last updated 4/18/05)

Paleoconservatives are socially and economically conservative. They are also strong isolationists, against war and (in most cases) free trade and immigration. They support free-market capitalism while recognizing that it is not perfect and that government intervention may be required at times. They are also strong supporters of family values.

Classic conservatives and paleoconservatives are usually considered the same thing. For purposes of this quiz, I separate paleoconservatives as those who place greater trust in capitalism, such as the members of the Constitution Party.

A prime example of a paleoconservative is former Presidential candidate Pat Buchanan.

MAINSTREAM LIBERAL

(Last updated 4/18/05)

Mainstream liberals believe in standard neo-liberal ideas such as a women's right to an abortion, gun control, more welfare programs for the poor, abolition of the death penalty, and increased regulation of businesses. Mainstream liberals are also greatly opposed to war. These were the ideals of the 2004 Democratic primary Presidential candidate and current Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean. A more extreme version of mainstream liberalism would be the ideals of 2004 independent Presidential candidate Ralph Nader and the Green Party.
I hate Dean, do support war (when neccessary, I just said we should be a little more worried about home than invading the middle east), support the death penalty....but alright...

This test is definitely overly simplistic. It claims that you are more liberal than JavaBlack, which doesn't make sense.

I'm a foreign policy realist, though I prefer isolationism to hawkishness. The strange part is that I support open borders and free trade.
