The troubling thing about Buchanon is his rhetoric about "fixing the melting pot". Buchanon wants assimilation beyond just learning English and getting a job. He wants unanimous religion and complete sameness in all elements of culture. The entire concept is fascist to the core.

Of the top 5 political parties in America, this would be my order of preference:
1. Libertarian Party 2. Constitution Party/Green Party (Depending on who they run) 4. Democratic Party/Republican Party (Depending on who they run) For example, in the Constitution Party, Peroutka is better than Phillips and from the Green Party, from the last two elections, Cobb is better than Nader was. If Nader is counted as a separate entity, I'd put him between #2 and #4. I'd put Buchanan above Nader but below #2.

OK. Utilizing the priority thing and leaving a couple as "Not Sure" I got these results... which are slightly more accurate.
1.Libertarian 2.Left-libertarian 3.Radical 4.Paleo-libertarian 5.Neoconservative 6.Centrist 7.Liberal 8.Third Way 9.Conservative 10.Paleoconservative I still think the first two are mixed up... but at least now liberal is above conservative and paleo-con is still on the bottom where it belongs!

I have no desire to be considered liberal or conservative. The welfare state approach has been tried. It's a mess. The "God wills it" nation-building approach has been tried. It's an even worse mess. Neocons are the worst of both worlds because they are indifferent to the former and supportive of the latter. I suppose I could stomach welfare statism if it was accompanied by a genuinely socially liberal mindset (e.g. the Green Party), just as I could probably cast a reluctant vote for a social conservative if they were an actual fiscal conservative (in other words, the Old Right). Right now, though, we have economic populist Democrats, indifferent to genuine liberalism, hanging on to bureaucratic inefficiency until their fingers turn blue while we have neoconservative Republicans creating disaster after disaster in foreign policy, trying to push theocracy and a Big Brother state at home and letting domestic spending increase even as they continue their meaningless references to "smaller government", something from the Old Right philosophy, a philosophy they long ago discarded. Honestly, short of a fascist or an authoritarian communist, give me anyone but the Republicans and Democrats, who are currently seen as representing conservatism and liberalism, respectively. I'd vote for the Green Party, the Constitution Party, the Socialist Party, the remnants of the Conservative Party, Ralph Nader, Pat Buchanan or just about anybody but the GOP and Democratic partisans. Oh, and I took the test again:
#1 Libertarian #2 Left-Libertarian #3 Centrist #4 Paleolibertarian #5 Neoconservative #6 Conservative #7 Third Way #8 Radical #9 Paleoconservative #10 Liberal
