You probably should define what "liberal" is supposed to mean. It is appparent that Americans have moulded that word in to some sort of political jargon equating to "left". That is not how the word is used in general usage. I would never describe communism as being "liberal", but the exact opposite, ie. authoritarian.

Those are capitalist nations with a welfare state! Their whole economic systems are build on a fee market economy and that's why there is stil something left to handout! And do you know how much debt those nations, even thought still with a free market economy, already collected because of all those free handouts?

Everyone can increase his standard of living by living on money he does nor really have, aka going into debt, it just does not work for very long!

Only a few are able to conceive the underlying nature of things, a small minority which was historically more often burned, poisoned, or thrown into dungeons, than any other group.

I'm an advocate of the American System. The American System was recognized as the most successful form of government worldwide. It was copied by Germany and Japan, and others, to various degrees. It was primarily an economic policy. It was ideological insofar as it attempted to elevate the individual and the collective simultaneously with no contradiction. We the People.

When it comes to issues like these, I am an avid conspiracy theorist.
Isms did not come to the fore until the Empire cooked them up as a way of creating false divisions. The Empire would like all the fools to believe there are only two options. As we argue about the various shades of stupidity within the spectrum between the two options, the Empire grows.

Which do you mean? The pre- or after civil war system? The system you had from the time the British were thrown out to the time of the civil war was truly good including the constitution, but since the civil war it went rapidly downward in the direction of a plutocracy! When the south was forced to remain part of the union the principle of free association was violated and the whole became totalitarian. With the FED than it became a full plutocracy.

Stability and freedom are at once problem and essence of political organization, without freedom stability is archiveable but not desirable, and without stability freedom is only a temporary illusion.

I'm a classical liberal. I hold that socialism is as great a threat to liberty as fascism is.

As far as I'm concerned, the idea that "liberalism=communism" is about as intellectually respectable as "conservativism=fascism".
