Honestly, in this thread I'm seeing a lot of issues where people are saying libertarians differ on and some libertarians believe government should do this and some believe that. The only issue I have ever known libertarians to debate on is abortion. Other than that, it is this and it is that or you aren't a libertarian.

You could of course fall under Libertarian because the LP is a bit different than the core values real libertarians hold. But all these conflicting issues with regards to libertarianism, I don't buy quite frankly.

The biggest problems I see with the Libertarian Party:

They're a hair's width away from anarchy.
They still cling to that obsolete notion of isolationism.

That's why I lean to the right. Anarchy can't work for a society as big as ours, and there is no such thing as "isolationism," no matter how badly you try for it. International relationships are critical for our survival.

You're right about immigration though. Pure open borders would really damage this country, and cause major damage to an already fragile economy.

Too bad there isn't a party to associate yourself with that:

A. Believe in reducing the size of government
B. Rejects isolationism
C. Believes in personal freedom and oppressive/excessively progressive taxation
D. Believes in a responsible immigration policy
E. Adheres to the constitution based on it's interpretation by it's creators.

Here's the problem...there's no room for radicals, in a party like that. Radicals are what's running this country right now. It's the bible-thumpers vs. the neo-socialists. The rest of us are being squeezed out.
