Read the Civil Rights Act of 1964. While I don't agree with racism, I don't think that it should be against the law to feel a certain way. With that said, there should be laws that deal with the actiosn carried out by some of those feelings. People have a right to believe what they want, but not the right to take those beliefs out on others.

Here's an example: A racist white man just outright kills a black man because the white man hates black people. Would this seperate law come into affect because the murder was due to race? Shouldn't the white man just be tried for murder? I never really thought about this. As of now, I don't think there should be any seperate laws. One man killed another, try him for muder. |

I'm not sure but isn't there federal legislation when it comes to hate crimes?

to an African American who says that by definition racism cannot be suffered by someone from the majority group? I had a professor in college who made be repeat this crap on an exam. A lot of people who would be the targeted group to be protected would tell you that by definition I could not be covered under the same law since an action against me cannot be racist according to their definition.
Tell me again why I am suppose to have any sympathy for their cause? I am not a racist, but I am distinctly apathetic about helping people who view me as the enemy when they do not take the time to know me either? |

I find it hysterical that black person can call me a white devil in front of a cop & that's just fine. But god forbid I call that person a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) (yes, I am using the word here. I am not in kindergarten nor am I dealing with children here, so I will be an adult an actually write this word) in retaliation & I would get arrested in the state of NY.
Now to me, that's as racist as you can get. It's little things like that that make me unapologetically unsympathetic to a black person's 'plight'.

I say defiantly there should be rules for rasism, but both ways if a black person calls a white person something they should be arrested and if a white person calls a black person something they should be aressted and this goes for orange, purple, green and yellow people. Anything prejudiced or discrimitive should have laws against it.
However i think it should be more for discrimination.

And how can someone who is a majority understand what is like to experience racism from the minority point of view? I can tell you from experience that White men are not the majority in every situation. I grew up in South Florida and was the serious minority throughout most of my schooling. I had to defend myself on "Cracker Days" when all the white kids would ger jumped constantly throughout the day. Talk about "through the looking glass". -Demosthenes
