Queens - WABC, March 9, 2007) - A 101-year-old woman on her way to church was attacked and robbed -- and police say she isn't the only victim.

Cops say the suspect attacked twice this week. His target: elderly women.
Eyewitness News reporter Jen Maxfield spoke with both victims and has the story from the Jamaica Estates section of Queens.

This cold blooded attacker isn't just targeting elderly women -- he's targeting elderly women with walkers. In two brutal attacks, this mugger got away with less than $40 dollars. But what he didn't know is that he was caught on camera.

"I'm a 101-years-old. How you going to run after a mugger?," said Rose Morat.

Rose Morat's face is battered and bruised after a violent struggle with a mugger in the lobby of her Queens apartment building. The assault was caught on videotape in disturbing detail.

We see Rose on her way to church with the help of a walker. The young man she thought was opening the door for her turns on her, punching her repeatedly in the face before he takes her purse and rummages through her pockets. Bleeding profously through her mouth, the century old woman musters the strength to try to get her purse back -- and that's when this heartless thief knocks her and her walker to the ground.

GULFPORT - Circuit Judge Steve Simpson today sentenced Joshua Ryan Teague to life without parole on a guilty plea to the capital murder of 92-year-old Iva Jewel Moore of Biloxi.

Teague, 21, of Clinton, Tenn., showed no remorse and offered no apologies to her family when given a chance to speak. Moore, who lived on DeBuys Road, was stabbed (brutally, 23 times) during a burglary at her home on Feb. 23, 2005.

"We feel like he could have at least said he is sorry for what he did," said Vernna Moore, wife of the victim's son, Edwin Moore.

"A 93-year-old woman was robbed of her handbag as she walked through the grounds of St Laurence in Thanet Church, on High Street, St Lawrence on 9 February at 1.45pm.

The woman was on her way to the St Lawrence post office when she passed a man looking at a headstone. He then grabbed her handbag and pushed against her arm to snatch it away.

The man ran out of the churchyard through the Manston Road entrance carrying the bag which was embroidered and with bone handles.

The victim wasn't injured during the robbery.

Description

The man is described as white, aged 25 to 30, about 6ft 1in tall, of thin build with short, untidy, black hair and a pale, gaunt complexion. He wore light-coloured, dirty-looking trousers and a dark bomber jacket."

"WASHINGTON COUNTY - - Shortly before 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 26, 2005, a 73-year-old woman was robbed in front of the Postal Annex Store, which is located at 7327 NW Barnes Road.

The victim told deputies that she had gotten out of her car in front of the Postal Annex Store and that she had her cane and her car keys in one hand and a check she’d made out to a moorage company in the other hand. She said as she was steadying herself with her cane before continuing on towards the Postal Annex Store a man came up behind her, pushed her and grabbed the bill saying "I’ll take that".

The victim says the male suspect ran off and got into a red 4-door sedan and drove northbound on NW Miller Road. The victim went into the store to tell a clerk what happened. The clerk described the victim as crying and shaking.

The victim describes her attacker as an adult white male, 30 to 35 years of age, 5’11" and 160 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She says he was wearing a red "T" shirt and blue jeans. "

"Weetwood police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was robbed this morning at the entrance to Queenswood Heights in the Beckett park area.
At around 10:25am a 78-year old womanwas returning home after she had been shopping and was at the entrance to Queenswood Heights when she was pushed to the ground and her shopping trolley was taken from her by two youths.
The lady was shaken, but otherwise uninjured as a result of the incident and her trolley was found nearby with only an amount of cash having been stolen from it.
The 78-year old described the suspects as white males around 16-years of age, of medium build and around 5-feet tall."
