Default Obama running because he is black?

Billybob brought up a point that alot of people felt one way or another about. I personally think Obama needs more experience as in evident of how he dealt with his long time spiritual mentor. I would like to bring up another point that even many influential african americans have stated.Do you think he would be running right now if he wasnt black and how do much do you think it helps or hurts him.

I don't think that he's running because he's black; however, I don't think that he would be a serious consideration for the Democratic nominee if he was not black and the Democrats did not have to prove their "affirmative action" multiculturalsim. Even then, he is not the ideal black candidate because of Rev. Wright and all that racist stuff.

no,
he wouldn't be running if he weren't black.
and if he did,
his lack of experience would've made him one of the first to drop-out.
he's getting beat-up this bad,
just campaigning to his own party.
where most people should already agree with his major stances.
and i think he'll find that running a national campaign against the GOP and John McCain,
is a little different than running a senate race against the GOP and carpet-bagger Alan Keyes.

if he's getting hit from the GOP, AND disenfranchised clinton supporters,
it could make for a long autumn for obamma.

Obama is running because he believes her can win, and obviously many people think the same thing. I don't think he is running because he is black, as the above poster says, his inexperience would have forced him to drop out.

I think the experience factor is a tough one to justify. Many presidents such as Lincoln has very little political experience on the national level. Lincoln had 8 years as a state legislature in Illinois and only 2 years in the U.S. house of reps. Obama has more experience then Lincoln. FDR was a Governor for 4 years and spent 2 years in the state legislature. Woodrow Wilson was a Governor for only 2 years. The most experienced president in our history was James Buchanan with 30 years of combined experience and I think we all know how that went. So, experience does not mean a lot with me. What matters to me is judgment and knowledge. I think the longer a politician is in Washington the more they are corrupted. Thus, making less experienced politicians more appealing to me.

S. 2433: Global Poverty Act of 2007

A bill to require the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.

At the summit of the Group of Eight (G-8) nations in July 2005, leaders from all eight participating countries committed to increase aid to Africa from the current $25,000,000,000 annually to $50,000,000,000 by 2010, and to cancel 100 percent of the debt obligations owed to the World Bank, African Development Bank, and International Monetary Fund by 18 of the world's poorest nations.

Jeffrey Sachs, who runs the U.N.'s "Millennium Project," says that the U.N. plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7 percent of GNP in increased foreign aid spending would add $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already spends. Over a 13-year period, from 2002, when the U.N.'s Financing for Development conference was held, to the target year of 2015, when the U.S. is expected to meet the "Millennium Development Goals," this amounts to $845 billion. And the only way to raise that kind of money, Sachs has written, is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels.

This is my problem with Obama, I could care less if he was pink with purple polka dots. Our electrical girds, schools, roads and interstate systems are falling apart. But those nitwits want to take what we earn and spread it all over the world, including tin pot dictators so prevalent in Africa. Those dummies need to learn, it's OUR tax dollars, we expect our needs will come first then charity next.....sheez!
