As I see it, the difference between God and some paranormal stuff is:

God is almighty, paranormal is not.
God created the world, paranormal did not.

The first is an argument in favour of paranormal. Omnipotence is a complex concept, the idea that something should have that is at best unfounded, at worst, a figment of the imagination. Occam's razor.

The second is argued to be in favour of God. Some argue that the existence of the world can be called God, regardless of whether that God would be a Monte Python god, a natural process, the big bang, a programmer or a bic pen. Those who accept that have an argument for God which is not an argument for the paranormal.

In the end, I think the paranormal is a very good argument that personal conviction is not an indication of truth.
