Thread: Atheists Should Accept Blame for the French Reign of Terror and Communism

  1. Default Atheists Should Accept Blame for the French Reign of Terror and Communism

Atheists have a double standard. They want Christians, especially Catholics, to accept blame for and apologize for all the wrongs committed by Christians in the past, i.e. the Inquisition, burnings of witches, heretics and Protestants, the Crusades, the 30-years war in Germany, etc.

But atheists won't accept blame for and apologize for the horrors inflicted by their fellow atheists who led the French Revolution and the various Communist regimes.

So now, I'm giving atheists a chance to come clean.

Apologize for all the murders committed by atheists.

You owe a special apology to Catholics since you targeted Catholic priests and nuns above all others while you were in charge.

I really think it's stupid to blame someones religion (or lack of) for being responsible for crimes committed in the past. For instance Christianity is basically worshiped differently then it was in the past, so modern christians shouldn't be held responsible for past christian crimes.

    I will ask you for the 100th time and watch you dodge;

Where is the "atheist doctrine" calling for genocide and mass murder?

Just because I find your religion silly does not mean I am an atheist.

and I'll link the same cartoon I always do. It's a cartoon so you'd think the message would be clear as day, but apparently it's not because these posts keep happening.

    .
"Various Communist regime" weren't started in the name of Atheism but for a political idealogy.

For example, the Pathet Lao were Buddhists and today the Lao People's Revolutionary Party members are still Buddhists.

It is called the Association Fallacy.

Atheists are not bound by the Commandment "Thou shalt not kill."

So if they can come up with a good reason, they can kill millions without feeling bad about it.

Nonsense. All I would say about those wonderful examples of religion exercised to its fullest is that they exemplify how religion is dangerous. People did those things in the name of the Catholic god, at the behest of their chicken hawk religious leaders. You see, Christianity is based on a collection of ancient stories which expound really poor moral values, encouraging those who would listen to its messages to kill others for their beliefs and actions, even when their actions in no way warrant such a response. In fact, if Old Testament stories of conquest are to be believed, ancient Israel was on par with Hitler's Germany in terms of outgroup hostility and ingroup superiority. The Israelites conquering lands were like Germany invading Poland, claiming their YHWH-given Lebensraum.

Fast-forward to medieval Europe, and we have nominal Christians behaving in all too similar fashion to both the ancient Israelites and the future Nazis. You shall not suffer a witch to live. Amen and Halleluja!

Heh, as if a "commandment" is the only reason to do or not do something. Newsflash: Atheists also have a conscience.

I'm not sure why so many don't understand this. Is the only reason they don't run around murdering people because they feel they'll be punished for eternity in some afterlife? That's a scary thought.
