I am a Christian, but I am interested in the art of all faiths. My favorite Christian works of art include:

I don't really know much about non-Christian art, but below is a link to my online photo albums. If you check out the albums titled Tokyo, Kyoto, and Japan, you'll see some photos of Japanese Buddhist and Shinto temples and statues. You'll have to search around through other non-religious photos as well, but perhaps you may enjoy them, too. Yes, this is a shameful attempt to promote my amateur photography.

Neithe of those pictures are religious in nature, but that's okay.
The first is Himeji Castle, a national treasure in the city of Himeji. I actually have a color version of this same picture hanging in my living room. It is one of my favorite pictures. The castle belonged to a warlord who ruled over the area before the unification of Japan. As it was under almost constant attack, it is equiped with all kinds of boobie traps and to stop invading enemies and secret passages to aid the warlord and his samarai in their escape if necessary. The second is a small garden next to and old house in the small town of Konan. Something about the leafless trees and broken brick firepit appealed to me. Actually, you may have noticed from some other pictures that I have a certain love of leafless trees. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/tuffor...e2.jpg&.src=ph This picture is also a fav of mine and is religious in nature. It is the boddhisattva (Buddhist god you could say) who looks after the souls of deceased children. In his left hand is a infant child, and at his feet are more infants looking up to him. Almost every grave yard in Japan has a statue of his likeness. This one is not in a graveyard, however, it is in a temple devoted to him, and I believe it is the largest statue of him in Japan. I like and admire the notion of a god whose sole propose is to protect the well-being of deceased children.

The birth of Venus is a beautiful pagan work of art:
http://www.st.hirosaki-u.ac.jp/~rmiya/pic/venus.png It is, unfortunately, the only pagan art I know of. I just learned about it in Art History last semester and all we really went over was Christian art from the middle ages and renaissance. After that all art became more secularized/non-religious.
