Pope Benedict XVI has risked a renewed rift with the Muslim world by baptising a converted Muslim born journalist who describes Islam as intrinsically violent and characterised by "hate and intolerance" rather than "love and respect for others".

Not that I think this will have any dire consequences or be any sort of huge deal but I don’t think it was necessary to make this so public. We don’t need any more of this, “Our religion vs. your religion” crap. It’s not like the religious extremists are going to see the error of their ways through this and feel ashamed.

Organized religion has ALWAYS been the bain of peace and prosperity. From executing "heretics" that thought the world was round to millions of deaths during the crusades, it has always been a thorn in humanity's side.

The growing intolerance of the world for religious extremism will shift the tide of this nonsense.

That’s great you’re trying to take the high road now that Christianity has prospered and chooses not to commit acts extremism…Religious fanatics practice all kinds of religions.

That's what we call living in a civilized society. Plus I don't make excuses for barbarism.

Also, I'm an agnostic, but it's not hard to figure out what religion still thrives from the stone age
