There is a battle in the book of Mormon where 2 million people die, and their women, and their children. (see Ether chapter 15)
These people didn't fight with stones, they had lots of metal. A few beads traced to meteorites cannot explain how these ancient people mined and forged thousands upon thousands of tons of ores yet there is no evidence of such mining operations today.
"And it came to pass that when they were all gathered together, every one to the army which he would, with their wives and their children—both men, women and children being armed with weapons of war, having shields, and breastplates, and head-plates, and being clothed after the manner of war—they did march forth one against another to battle; and they fought all that day, and conquered not." - Ether 15:15
It takes a lot of ores to make all that stuff. By my rough count I'd say there were roughly 4 million "weapons of war", "shields", "breastplates", "head-plates", and "swords".
Now who knows what these were made of. The book of Mormon mentions swords made from "steel", as well as objects made from gold, silver, iron, "ziff"?, copper, brass, and "precious ores, which were in great abundance". (2 Nephi 5:15)
Some breastplates we read are "large, and they are of brass and of copper, and are perfectly sound." (Mosiah 8:10)
I am informing you - before you respond with something that you quickly make up - that mining and smelting operations of even small sizes do not erode away, or just wash away in the dust, or get swept under some sand. If Joseph Smith was not making this stuff up then kindly provide us with some evidence of any of the millions metallurgical objects that should exist today, as well as the numerous and extensive mining sites and smelting/charcoal facilities that would need to have existed to produce that much metal.
Do you think mining and smelting that many tons of ore for - - - - one battle - - - - won't leave anything behind? Ancient metallurgical operations from around the world have been found that barely produced anything, and nothing close to 4 million of this, 4 million of that, 4 million of such and such. How come such a massive operation hasn't been found in the Americas?
