I don't have a god, man. We're godless heathens at my house.

Nonetheless, we have good manners, read books, eat good food, and love cops and the military.

It's ANARCHY round here. ANARCHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Days, weeks, years....oblivion.

Statues crumble, paintings fade, pictures are deleted.

Christianity is life after death...while our bodies return to carbon dust, our soul is everlasting.
does that mean you think only christians can have morals?

Morals in the absence of God are human constructs no different than a bridge, a table or a chair...they are impermanent and can be changed.

Morals in the presence of God are eternal truths.

For example abortion.

As society modernized, conventional thought on aborting a human "fetus" (to use your term) was no longer considered "immoral".

The chair was moved, to provide a suitable analogy.

My friend, true morality is inflexible, it does not sway in the breeze.

True morality is steadfast, it is permanent, it is unchanging.

but morals in christianity are not eternal, there are several types of christians with varying views -- as long as your morals are written in a book made by man, they will be subject to the interpretation of man. the example you brought up is a good one. the bible isnt against abortion. it actually validates the prolife position many hold.

And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
notice the man is only penalized eye for eye, life for life if the woman is harmed. you might be compelled to argue that this is different because it was accidental, but that doesnt save the careless man from reciprocal harm does it? theres clearly a hierarchy of life illustrated in the above passage -- the unborn are not regarded as born.

this one, ill throw in just because its kind of interesting:

And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
ritual abortion? lol.

the bible may be infallible, but man (the guy doin the reading) is not.

That is the typical atheistic/agnostic tactic.

Quotes from the New/Old Testament to dissuade and disparage.

I don't bend that easily.

Accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord as my Savior is all that is required to identify oneself as a follower of Christianity.

In your opinion the word of God is a human construct that Jesus Christ may or may not have walked this Earth, that Christians are fools who believe in Noah's Ark and dinosaurs walked with us 6,000 years ago and denounce evolution.

I've heard it all before.

BLUF (bottom line up front)

God created Jesus Christ so that we may understand God and humanize God.

Jesus was crucified, he rose from the dead and told his disciples to spread the word of God.

Jesus died for our sins.

So quote away.

My faith is my faith.

No one will ever tell you otherwise. But you don't seem to understand that your sweeping generalizations about non-believers are offensive and inaccurate from our perspective.

You have your paradigm, its mileage varies for other folks.

For me, I don't need an invisible sky god to make me behave in a humane way.

I'm told constantly that my faith is naive and "so 12th century"...

Islam is told the same thing..

Why do you think those who have faith react the way they are doing?

Why do you think a Muslim is offended if a cartoon of Mohammed is satirized...or a Crucifix is dunked in a glass of urine?

I go to Mass on Sunday and I affirm an appreciation for all that I have from God.
Other than my that, my prayer and contemplation are internalized.

I realize some aspects of Christianity are evangelical. I realize that to some this may be offensive, but some are called to do so to keep the flame of faith alive.

youre free to do as you please, but when you make statements like the ones you did about raytri's child, applause isnt the response youre going to get. if your aim is to bring people closer to christ, you should rethink your methods.
