So, you defend your faith by implying that those who don't share it are incapable of morality?

It wasn't because we opposed religion -- it was totally a matter of protecting parental prerogative.
ugh, I can already tell that's going to be a serious problem if we ever have kids. While my wife and I are perfectly fine respecting the beliefs of our relatives, they are not as considerate. They cannot stop trying to shove their faith in everyone's faces. Such a wonderful conflict to look forward to.

Been dealing with it for a decade, Sick. You will find a way to handle it. My kids sometimes attend services when the g-parents are in town, just out of courtesy, but I've also told my parents that cramming religion down their throats will minimize their contact with the kids (by the express desires of the kids themselves).

And of course, you have complete control over what happens in your home.

True morality is founded in a belief system that imparts a higher authority than any human being. Catz, we are all sinners, we all fall short of the glory of God.

As I say, if you want to place your trust and faith in human endeavors....please be my guest.

You will never be short of disappointment.

I think the issue is that you state this as fact when it is merely opinion. Christians don't have the patent on "true morality".

Sez you. My experience says differently. This is an opinion. You can't prove it, and it is not a fact. It's just what you think.

Speak for yourself. I don't buy into that system. Again, see opinion in the dictionary.

Why do you issue these proclamations as if you are speaking fact? This is your opinion. I consider it mistaken and irrelevant. I like my life. My kids like our life. Your perspective on it is based upon no knowledge, whatsoever. Thus, it is meaningless.

If you want to proclaim these things about YOURSELF, well and good. But, why do you feel a need to proclaim them about ME? You are speaking from ignorance here.

And, you definitely aren't winning any hearts/minds for the cause. You are uttering your opinions as if they are proclamations of fact. In reality, you don't know. You just feel a need to be "right."

True morality is rooted in the permanency of a higher power than "us".

That's not an opinion.

That is a philosophical reality.

Kill the rulemakers,

the rules die.

God cannot be killed.

to quote Shakespeare~

"Me thinketh thou protest too much"

You seem to go out of your way to explain how "happy" you are without God in your life.

Just peachy I'm sure.

Philosophy is rooted in opinion.

Maybe, maybe not. If chickens can survive, why not snakes?

Quote:

True. But, perhaps the rules will be replaced with better ones, as is the case with the old testament morality being replaced with the new testament morality.

You can't even prove that god exists, much less that he can't be killed.

Why debate this topic with you? Because your dogmatism amuses me. Why do cats play with mice? Because they are unhappy? Or because it makes them smile catty little smiles of schadenfreudal glee?

Conversely, you go out of your way to explain how much more moral you are.

Methinks you doth protest too much.

Trust me, herk. No one here is going to judge you for those pink lacy panties in your drawer. We'll even smack your ass and call you Priscilla, if you'd like. Let your freak flag fly, this is a safe place.
