If you think of our understanding of religion as evolving, then there is no need to think of magic sky daddies or old men in the sky. etc. Those types of metaphors used in the past were just that-- some examples to help us understand.
That there is a creator which we can not fully understand (being the created) is a reasonable proposition, accepted by great thinkers of the past and the present. Furthermore, many have been inspired by their beliefs to live admirable lives and some to create the greatest works of art in the history of humanity. To experience spirituality, you can experiment. Try praying on your own. Choose what prayers you like, whether, for example, Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu Jewish or Muslim. Sit alone in a quiet place and read them. Then contemplate them. Religious feeling can be quite subtle, a bit like tuning a radio away from the static to good reception. Once achieved, and it may take practice, it is a wonderful calming, serene and uplifting feeling. Spirituality has been with us forever, and seems likely to continue to be, for in it lie the answers of the purpose of our existence, and to understand death. True religion helps us to unite with others and help advance our civilization. Religious truths are the same in all the great religions. The laws change to suit the needs of the time. |

God is all around us man. And even science can't deny that there is alot of truth in predictions from all religious texts. Eventually we're going to have to accept the idea of a higher intelligence. I know your pride makes you cringe at the idea of a God. But the concept of God is not loss in in science, and if anything, is heald to a high degree of hope and reassurance. We're going to need God when those last few years of the universe occur and there is nothing nothing in the universe... |

And yet you cannot prove the existance of a God.

Why would I need to?
I don't need to prove anything to you. I can't prove to you I'm real. For all you know I'm just a very sophisticated A.I. Do I really give a (*)(*)(*)(*) if you think I am or not? So if I don't care, I can only assume God doesn't care. Being alot less petty, alot more intelligent, and tons more busy... We don't need to explain our existence to ants. |

I think you took my comments the wrong way. I was intending to be offensive.
If you tell me there is a God, aren't you then required to prove that he does, in fact, exist?

You can't insist someone, or something exists without being able to prove it's existance.

Well you CAN insist....I mean after all its simply an opinion. What bothers me about religious people though is when act like they KNOW that there is a "God" or a "higher power". You dont have a shred of proof to back that up. Its simply blind faith. Simply just say that and I dont have an issue with it. People can believe in whatever they want....more power to them. I love my family with all of my heart, and most in my family are very religious. When religion gets involved in politics is when I have a problem with it.
