I agree. Of course, by these standards, the germanic tribes and Rome would have been neck and neck. The germanic tribes would have won economically and militarily, Rome would have won technologically. When the two worlds collided and the Roman empire was destroyed, the Germanic tribe suffered as much as anyone else. The technology was lost for several hundred years.

about the USA being techinally superior, I enjoyed taking the high speed train from Boston to miami, I mean no other country has such a well developed transport system

as to an earlier post why europe will always play cath up to America, I guess he's refering to social reform which beats up on the poor, we're way behind you on that one

all those patents involve many things that are taken for granted, notably electricty generation
