do you know how many people claimed to be the messiah during those days?

do you know how many mad men like John the Baptist were running around portending the coming of the messiah?

Jesus could not have been rejected as he was never asked or selected by the Jews. If as we are told Jesus claimed he was NOT the messiah as his followers were saying, why aren't Jesus' own words credible?
