I'm not criticizing anyone. I was just curious what everyone's views were on the holiday.

Good point.
I knew a family growing up who refused to let their 2 boys out on Halloween. They claimed it was the devils holiday. They locked their doors and kept all the lights out on that night so no one would trick or treat their house. To each his own, but I kind of felt bad that the kids never got to experience getting a costume on and running around with your friends.

We elebrate Christmas and plan on continuing to do so.

I don't think one necessarily has to be a member of a religion formed by Peter and Paul in order to celebrate the Birth of Jesus, and even if it's just trees and stockings, that's fine, too.

There's a lot of that here in Dixie. They do "alternative" celebrations. Whatever. To each his own. But Halloween is pretty tame in my book. I tend to assume the Devil's holiday would be mroe dangerous somehow.

Yea somehow dressing up in costume and passing out candy just doesn't sounds like an event that would be sponsored by Satan himself. lol

I agree. I am Christian myself. But if you aren't, then you can celebrate family, have everyone get together and celebrate the fact that you have a loving family.

Are you kidding?
Greed and gluttony.
Blackmail (trick or treat?)
Tooth decay.

Of course Christmas pushes consumerism to insane levels while encouraging greed and gluttony in children...

Hmmmm... But think about it.

They both wear a lot of red...
And I always had the sneaking suspicion that those elves were demons!
