Trust me, he's Muslim. He's very religious, always reads Quran and often books related to it. He even watches videos of some modern day Islamic Philosophers that discuss Islam. I think that he's become too religious, not sure if that's the right way to put it, but he's starting to limit himself to things that are contrary to the religious path in life but aren't even considered as sin in Quran..
