It annoys me when atheists or the like break a sweat to try to prove god doesn't exist. If something does not affect you why waste your life trying to disprove & discredit it?

I totally agree with you on this..

This is just more proof of how stupid some people are. They are theists, and they are so stupid that they claim to be atheists. It is embarrassing for this country that we have such stupid people!!

They are not atheists though. I can't understand how you can make that claim. They say they believe in god, and then say they are atheists. They are not atheists, they are just very stupid theists!!

This one's simple, people are afraid to say they don't believe in god thanks to some real fascist asswipes out there.

Really? I guess that is one explanation. I thought it was more that some theists are stupid, and do not know what atheism means. if they believe in god they are not atheists. So answering a poll saying they are, makes them stupid theists.

But why if this was an anonymous thing ?

Looks to me like 21% of atheists can not correctly define atheism.

Or perhaps Pew and Hotair are defining animists or Wiccans as atheists, two groups not represented by the "poll". Speaking of which, Buhddists do not believe in god, yet according to the poll a majority believe in god.

In my humble opinion, the poll seems to be inaccurate or to closely defining beliefs so as to put them into terms most Americans use. Nothing wrong with that except that if my theory is correct, it shows the ignorance most Americans have regarding religions.
