By any definition of "God" as recognized by the Judeo-Christian religions and many others, Einstein did not believe in such things.

Additionally, Einstein did not practice a religion, unlike almost everyone else of his time, and ours.

Einstein's public statements have been interpreted by those that believe in "God", exactly as Einstein wanted and he expected them to be: misunderstood! With good reason, to avoid his being crucified by religious people. everywhere.)

einstein was NOT an atheist. A nice quote from him:
"God does not play dice." regarding probability.

Course, he was wrong in that regard.... but its still a good quote.

Einstein was an atheist given the traditional view of God. He did say it was possible that a "god" existed, but it was quite clear that it was his own version of god, not one understood by any religions. And in that I think he was out of line. It is not his place to redefine a word with established meaning.
