Default Entering NATO is destructive for Ukraine

hey! nowadays Ukraine's eventual entering NATO is widely discussed in the media. in this connection I would like to give voice to my opinion in this respect.

being absolutely sane and in full control of my mental powers, I must confess that Ukraine should better not enter NATO. why so? of course because in this case Ukraine will have to put paid to its independence. America – no one doubts that it is America as such that controls NATO – will certainly gain full control over Ukraine's government and political parties. from this moment on, Ukraine will do only what its over-Atlantic suzerain orders to do. first of all, Washington would insist on deploying an anti-ballistic missile defense base in Ukraine (like the one that will be deployed in Poland or Czechia). at the same time, America will pull its troops into Ukraine to defend its ABMD base from Islamic terrorists. then America will use Ukraine as a staging area for attacks against its enemies in the Middle East while Ukrainian army will have to take active participation in all military operations of the US. in short, Ukraine will soon find itself under the thumb of America and there will be no way back so Ukrainians must decide right now whether they want to be independent

Uh... as part of the agreement that entailed the Ukraine giving up the rather large number of nuclear weapons it was in possession of after the end of the USSR the USA committed itself to Ukraines defense...in a manner similar to Tawian(until a few years ago)..ambiguos but at the same time clear. Russia attacks the Ukraine overtly the USA will come to its aid.

The Ukraine is already an active ally of the USA and has deployed troops to war in Iraq. As well as playign roles in othe international efforts(Kosovo for instance)

It has since the fall of the USSR made every effort to become a member of the EU and NATO..acceleratign its efforst since 1994 they realize if they don't the Russians will come back one day and maybe nobody will come to their aid on that day.

(BTW F100 is going to rip your opinion to shreds)

Default economic viability by Ukraine = EUROPE / US

Mondeo mumbles nonswence regarding Ukraine's debate to fully enter NATO

I will try and add to DUH's solid basis with this topic. First and foremost Ukraine to be truly independent politically and economically must turn to the West. History has thought Ukraine that the greatest threats to it's independence and even physical survival has come from the East. A thousand years ago the threat was from the Mongols and soon after that from Muscovy.

Ukraine needs the economic markets of the West in order to prosper as a modern country and it needs the protection of the West in order not to be over-run once more by a newly resurgent, always hostile, and potentially very aggressive Russia.

Achieving economic viability by Ukraine can only come from intergration into Europe. The one major stepping stone of economic intergration with Europe has been via intergration into NATO.

Ukraine is already a NATO Partner for Peace as as Duh pointed out has participated in the BALKANS, Middleeast, and Irag. I am not sure what you mean by "under the thumb of America " but let's be practical here and learn from history. Ir was Russia that murdered 10, 000, 000 Ukrainians in a contrived famine not the US. It was Russia who infested large parts of the Ukrainians land mass with ethnic Russians and surplanted the Ukrainian language and culture not the US.

For the most part virtually every nation that has dealt with the US has made out pretty well. Ask Germany and Japan. For God sakes JAPAN was even occupied by the US and now we drive Toyotas, Honda's and Mitsubishi's instead of dog fighting them.
