Problem is, dumb people in large groups are very powerful, too.

OK. Then perhaps a better slogan could be:
All that is necessary for idiocy to take over is for the alternative to be John Kerry.

You can't argue with that. Rebellion mentioned that. He wasn't dying to vote for Bush, but he disliked Kerry more. So he went W by default. The issue seems to be the 15% that choose the respective nominees for the parties. They need to stop.

Bush had more support than anyone else who wanted to run. That is the hard fact.

No matter how crappy you think Bush is, the American People felt the otehr candidates were crappier. Including the Libertarian candidates.

Default Stupidity and democracy don't mix

That's the weakness of democracy. Having the freedom to elect someone to be your leader is great, but if all candidates are complete numbskulls it really doesn't help society. Also, not voting isn't a solution to this problem.

I'm truly amazed that there aren't even any guidelines to which a person has to be tested before he/she even thinks of running for president. I mean, can anyone just become a president? No tests about his/her knowledge of economy, people management, philosophy, etc?

Democracy only works if the candidates have brains. Too bad most of them don't have any. It isn't required anyways.

So people who disagree with you must be "complete numbskulls". Is that your position?

What is stopping you from voting for someone you dont think is a "complete numbskull"?

Democracy only works when everyone agrees with your point of view?

Who should get to determine what those guidelines are?

No. You have to be a certain age. You have to have been born here.

Quote:

Who gets to determine how much knowledge is sufficient? Having a high IQ doesnt necessarily make you a great leader...lots of people in America were smarter than Washington and JFK, but they would have made inferior leaders.

And having "brains" means agreeing with you, correct?

Default Putskii wants to point offensive missles at Europe

So Putskii wants to point offensive missles at the good part of Europe becasue the U.S. has in defensive missles. Now that is one good example of Russian logic- "you act in a defensive manner I will counter you with an offensive threat". I told you guys you cannot trust Russian. We never were TRUE "allies" with that batch of Bolshevik baboons even during WW II. That was a temporary arrangement with Satan so we would deal with the Devil. Never make a deal with Satan.

And that other Gaboonka, Gorbachov calls the U.S. "IMPERILAIST". Imagine that a Russian gaboonka calling us imperialists. He comes from a country that invaded 14 other countries and over 100 regions and murdered 50 -60 million people since 1875 and he calls us "imperilaists". That is a real load of Gorbash$toskii.

Huh? What has he done that has made him untrustworthy?

He's been very open about exactly what he is doing and why. For all his faults, the one thing you cant accuse him of is being inconsistent or hiding his intentions. I wish all world leaders were like that.

Default PLEASE!

Is anybody posting here above the age of 12, or have an IQ above 70? The danger is Communist China, not Russia.
