I'm not sure how fair the elections were in Georgia, but I gather it was pretty a clear vote. Not many candidates.

That's new... The majority of TV stations are state controlled. Newspapers, I have been told are more free and do criticize the president. The US is claimed to have a "liberal" media but it is not state controlled.
