Does Anyone Know Why Pravda Eng. Forum Is Down?

I just got this in an e-mail from a friend who logged into Pravda Think Tank:

Hi

I thought many of you would like to know what gives with the Pravda Forum. It was a massive hacking attack which has infected everything with viruses. This was the biggest attack to date, the last one was tens of thousands of computers from around the world making a DOS attack and this time it was larger, so we see who or what we are up against.

PRAVDA is in a group of 47 publications and they are being put back one by one, cleaned up and restored, which takes two to three days for each one. At present they are working on the Portuguese version (although there are holidays this week) and the Forum will be the first in line after that.

This is what happens when you practise freedom of expression and proves once and for all the bull(*)(*)(*)(*) that western elements spout every time they open their mouths. They have been shown up for what they are, namely a bunch of murderous criminals who pander to the whims of the lobbies controlling them.

Our defence against this is internet security, not retaliation because we are a tight-knit group and do not have tens of thousands of people across the globe to fight back. Personally, I am in favour of identifying the main ones responsible and I have a few Ukrainian friends who like playing football with heads.

However that plan was scotched and it was decided to invest in Internet security rather than catch the culprits and water-board them in acid, which is what they deserve. Lucky for them I am not in a position of power, yet, to implement the measures they have engendered and therefore should face the consequences.

Thanks for that Mandy, I thought it was a hack job (what else could it have been?). Apparently other forums were also attacked around the same time such as GLP.

If Pravda is not restored post haste I will create my own forum and promote the agenda of freedom of speech, allowing all voices to be heard and protecting the leakers.

This is a good forum Marshal & I know it is not Pravda but read the forum rules on expletives & threats.

I have reviewed the forum rules and found to be fully compliant with the regulations.

At the same time, you are right... Maybe symbols € $ £ can be mis-read as expletives.

Anyways, Pravda Eng. forum shares the same destiny with Pravda Ru. forum, both are down and obviously they won't be up and running any time soon.

Pravda Online is like the National Enquirer of Russia and it's English forum has degenerated into a primarily Middle Eastern concern. It was a fun place to poke the the nutters. It got so bad that you couldn't call a person a "kook" and the words "smart people" would show up instead unless you seperated the letters like this: k o o k.

Anyway, quite a number of the normal posters gave up on the place, although not entirely and I wondered if anyone who is here now knew what happened? I work a lot and so I might have missed the reason why "Page Not Found" pops up whenever I go there.

Pravda of the Cold War was of course an official Russian Mouth piece.
Now it's much worse. "Russian Spring'.

It's just a Nationalistic/Xenophobic haven for anti-Israel and anti-Jewish conspiracists.

Hi Jelena, I check up on the place periodically to see if it's back on, but haven't had any luck. I like how this place is becoming a refuge for old Pravda hands.

The forum was in a sad state anyway and not as diverse as it once was. Still, I kinda miss old Zhurn telling me to "go slam your head in a sock drawer".
