heh Maybe not even those islanders, so don't worry about it. The USA cannot invade anyone anytime anywhere soon. Dubya made sure of that.. USMarines are the elite seaborne shocktroops of the US arsenal, but they are stuck doing police/garrison duty in the middle of injun territory slowbleeding away for the last 5 years.

The fact you have Navy doesn't mean you can CONTROL oceans.

Russian warships have no problems with ice. Fleet can operate in all seasons and in all weather conditions.

You are right.

On the other hand, SLBMs from Typhoon could be targeted ether on city or on aircraft carrier and supporting ships.

It still does the job.

I don't know why you're scrapping your Typhoons. Maybe to fund the Borei class subs?

Actually subs might be one area that Russia becomes more advanced than the US. I don't think we're putting much money into subs as they don't help much in the regional conflicts we're fighting.

You are right (as always)

I read in various sources that Soviet commanders perfectly knew that they could not match NATO forces by surface ships during Cold War. So Soviet scientists developed a concept of asymmetric answer. According to principle of asymmetric naval warfare submarines must be enough powerful to keep combat with significant amount of up-to-date surface battleships.
