Very true. Not everyone has the US to thank for their freedom. Those people Novi mentioned were fighting against someone trying to take their freedom away.

So I guess you have to decide how big a fish you are whether or not your Freedom is due to America. Germany, Russia and Briton might well have greater empires without America around.

Unless, as SS might, you argue that life under Communist Russia, Imperial England or Nazi Germany isn't really "free." At which point there would only be a handful of party members that would truely be free (and ever so powerful).

On a personal note : when an American teenager grown up on Superman-like movies tells something like "the USA controls the skies" it looks out quite normal. When a pilot of C-130 repeats "the USA controls the skies", it looks out rather strange.

Honestly I agree. All I can think is that we're tying to let the Russians have their pride so they don't do something stupid.

And we're probably also getting a little sloppy with how we deal with carriers airspace in general and how close we run them to land. Well I guess since the only people flying in the area were "allies" they weren't concerned. But still.

Why would we be threatened by that? Russia is a democracy. We dont view them as an enemy.

Had it been China or Iran it might be a different story. But Russian bombers arent a threat to us. Democracies dont attack each other.
