Afaik they where (Tupolev 95)""Bear Bombers""(see pic) not jets and while there was a decline in this after the Cold War ended its nothing new.

Russia restarted their long range bomber patrols sometime early this year or last..I forget exactly when...

True, true. The Russian bombers in the incident in the summer were caught and 'escorted' within minutes of entering NATO airspace.

The thing that seperates this is the fact the Bomber's were going towards an Aircraft Carrier, one of America's main weapons.

Dya see what I'm getting at? Flying over an Aircraft Carrier is a big thing alright, it is our most powerful Power Projection utensil and more expensive than any other weapon.

In regards to the claim they "Flew Over" the carrier....

Yeah I'm surprised at that.... as well as wondering if its accurate.

Oh imagine how many more overt challenges to the USA there is going to be if Obama or Hillary's run out of Iraq "plan" is done.
Think expansionist minded nations are gogin to sit back after seeing the USA won't fight..and if they do just bleed them and they will break.
Pffff...Somewhere in China some General type has to be thinking "we can invade Taiwan even if the USA resists...and win"



US military is "overstetched" becasue it is ridiculously small..Clinton gutted it and unfortunately Bush only recently started to expand it.
We couldn't fight Noth Korea and Iraq at the same time as the claim was in the late 90's.....the 2 war military is massively powerful but woefully inadequate for the needs of a nation like the USA.

We where supposed to be able to fight a conventional World War against the USSR..now we are overstretched fighting terrorists in two naitons with deployment scales not eveen close to Vietnam levels. Thats absurd.
