The experiment with Georgian joining NATO
It is whispered that right after January visit of NATO evaluating commission to Georgia local authorities make preparations for a warm reception of another representative delegation of Alliance. To all seeming results of previous visit have dissatisfied US ally. And Washington has requested US reliable vassals in Europe (I mean, of course, such NATO new members as the Baltic countries) to do all possible in order to change current position of other European allies, who continue to question US attempts of advancing Georgia to the Alliance.
As it has been known for me, the next NATO visit to Georgia is scheduled in the middle of February. Officially it is held on the initiative of Latvia. It is planned that then the members of this NATO delegation are to prepare a special report, which should demonstrate great success of Georgian democratic reforms during Saakashvili’s ruling and argue all doubting NATO allies into legitimacy of recent presidential elections in this republic. It is clear that if they are not successful in it, US plan on the fast Georgian move of getting MAP on NATO will be put on the spot.
So is the experiment with Georgian joining NATO worthwhile for the Alliance after it, I wonder?
