You might need to do better to convince some people. Exactly how is it stupid and ignorant to protect our #1 interest? And you could be misinformed, supporting freedom abroad contributes to love of America, but mostly an asinine world view of everything we stand for.

Supporting freedom? You took away freedom from Serbs in 1999, and now put that fact to paper. You gave "freedom" to a non-civilized people, moslim extremists, terrorists, and took away the heart from one of the oldest peoples in Europe.

Freedom? Justice?

You found a usual suspect in the Balkans, made a notion of Serbs as if they were some kind of butchers, which has nothing to do with reality.

Serbia is the one and only country in the Balkans that NEVER, and I will repeat that one, NEVER attacked another country.

Problem with Albanian terrorists was a problem of Serbia's backyard. USA did not allow Serbia to solve the problem. Now, you have created a mafia state that finances itself by drug and people trafficing.

Ask the true Albanians (from Albania) what they thing about Kosovo Albanians... They hate them and consider them a bunch of animals. Extremist animals.

But those very animals are very easy to manipulate. And very easy to control. And now you have a city in Kosovo that is called - Bondstill, the largest American military base in the world, with cinemas, bars, malls, everything...

And that is the true reason, not fight for democracy and stuff like that. Serbs are far more democratic people than any of its neighbours, and history can provide the proof.

Lets find out.

I do not agree with your assumption that it is inevitable that Kosovo will harbor Islamic Extremists.

Apparently not enough.
Let's just say that now Bush has another job waiting for him, after he leaves the White House : President of Kosovo. SS, check your private mail, please.

However, We Americans cannot alienate the Muslim world anymore, they need to be brought into the fold. America needs to back Kosovan Independence to show Muslims worldwide that America will stand for any country gaining independence from an oppressor.
then give the kurds a country. they are muslims and suffered under arab rule ever since britain decide to bond them within the iraq nation.

Since 1974 over 400,000 had died in Baghdad’s war against the Kurds. Almost half had disappeared without trace. About 10 % of the total Kurdish population of Iraq had perished.
http://mondediplo.com/1998/03/04iraqkn

the one certain outcome of the debacle is the death of multicultural myth. kosovo will be ethnically cleansed of non muslims and that kosovo will be populated by ethnic albanians. i must be patient for muslim enclaves in britain/france 'no go zones' to declare their independence.

The 751 No-Go Zones of France
November 14, 2006

They go by the euphemistic term Zones Urbaines Sensibles, or Sensitive Urban Zones, with the even more antiseptic acronym ZUS, and there are 751 of them as of last count. They are convienently listed on one long webpage, complete with street demarcations and map delineations.

What are they? Those places in France that the French state does not control. They range from two zones in the medieval town of Carcassone to twelve in the heavily Muslim town of Marseilles, with hardly a town in France lacking in its ZUS. The ZUS came into existence in late 1996 and according to a 2004 estimate, nearly 5 million people live in them.

First off if they're extremists those from Kosovo are doing an amazing job of fooling the world

http://www.indianexpress.com/story/275804.html

And also older reports like this
http://www.crisisgroup.org/home/index.cfm?id=1591&l=1

If you have some kind of evidence of widespread Kosovo extremism we'd be interested to see it. Otherwise we might be concerned that you've gotten your info from Milosevic's propaganda.

On a side note. On this issue I'm seeing intense support for Kosovo independence and possible confrontation from people I associated with the democrats. When a Liberal in this political climate is willing to fight, that's pretty impressive.

Some might call the KLA extremist - Serbia, for example. But to gain the widest perspective, we must assume the fact that the KLA is not extremist in their policies. Even this is a small stretch to most, and a great one to some: http://www.tenc.net/interviews/strategy.htm

But we have not rooted out the Mujahideen, which everyone can agree is extremist. The KLA agreed to the US' request to have no dealings with the fundamentalists. They gave a stout 'shrug' to the US in fighting against the KLA - this party approves of the Mujahideen. The only reason they are not allowing them in their sector is fear of US involvement, make no mistake they will not fight against the Mujahideen. The US declared the KLA before this incident a 'terrorist' organization.
