Perhaps it was merely incompetence from the Serbia police.
Then you know nothing about Serbian police.

A Fire Station somewhere in Belgrad. Fire Chief came into a room where a brigade of firefighters play checkers awaiting for emergency alert.
"Okay, guys you have about an hour to take shower and drink a couple of tea cups. After that we must hurry up...somebody set the US embassy on fire...."

Why foreign nations should respect the USA? Because you have the cheek to push mug into domestic affairs of sovereign nations, huh?

Sad. I see some arrogant folks still did not learn lessons of 9/11...

Ok. First off. This

http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/...286665912/1001

Is where we get our gratitude for this little move. You were expecting the Serbs to be happy?

As for the embassy burning the Serbs did us a favor. It's hard to argue that the Serbs are now non violent when that happens. Even with the obvious response of "it was only a hundred drunks" a hundred drunks can commit plenty of atrocities. And it's hard to argue that the government would be able to control any anti-albanian drunken actions at all when they can't stop a small crowd in their own boarders when anybody without a mental disability would be able to guess that there would be angry protests at the US embassy.

In short it lets the US hold the moral high ground despite sort of screwing the Serbs over. And it is only going to cost us a piddly amount of money in repairs. Heck like as not we'll get reimbursed by the Serbs.

On the contrary, the US and NATO have plans to sink cash into the Kosovo army - training and supplies (but we learned after the Taliban, didn't we). And, Kosovo has been saving millions for months for this celebration, why didn't they save it for use in government? - So their people could celebrate and (not and/or) western media could have a hay day.

"We, the leaders of our people, democratically elected, through this declaration proclaim Kosovo an independent and sovereign state," said the text read out in parliament by Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci.

http://en.epochtimes.com/news/8-2-18/66111.html
- A democratically elected general my @$$

Notice the parliament does not say 'we the people'; BUT............'we, the leaders of our people'; we are so naive.

And there is a picture on that web site of Serbian police quelling the US embassy episode.

Kostunica sums it quite nicely - the US is "ready to violate the international order for its own military interests".

And so much for our economic involvement - we will have donated half a billion dollars to Kosovo next year this time, and billions more in the future for arming her wonderful army of Mujihadeen supporters. (I seem to think these billions could be of better use in our own society)

If our police were given the orders - the hooligans would be broken within minutes. That is my concern in the first place... Why did someone wait for almost an hour and then give the order to the police?????

It is an orchestrated event, and I'm very interested in who the "bandmaster" is!... And the very bandmaster had the intention of acquiring some negative points for Serbia....

Or they just wanted to trash an embassy to show their disgust. I suppose you could have your hard liners, as people have proposed, that would rather have an angry public that votes for them rather than actually control Kosovo.

Still I doubt electing them will improve your odds of getting Kosovo back.

Neither. Just stay home next time we're expected to help out!!

"I'm very angry at what happened," Ambassador Cameron Munter said of the riots Thursday when protesters smashed windows and set fire to part of the building, The Associated Press reported. "It had better not happen again."
If there is one thing I've learned in my 40 years it's that you should never make Cameron Munter angry.

So? What's gonna happen? Next time he gets angry he will kill Kostunica by biting off his neck?
