Default Russia deepens Ukraine gas cuts

Russian gas monopoly Gazprom has cut supplies of gas to Ukraine again, and said further cuts may follow in the wake of a dispute over debts.
State-owned Gazprom cut supplies by a further 25% on Tuesday, following a 25% cut a day earlier - thereby cutting supplies by half.

Prior to the news, the EU called for an emergency internal meeting amid fears the row could hit European supplies.
Much of the gas Russia sells to Europe passes through pipelines in Ukraine.

Well, Ukraine is supposed to pay the debts. And I believe Ukraine should choose a side finally. If she wants to be with NATO - then she should pay for the gas. If she wants to be Russian ally - then Kremlin could overlook the issue and continue to deliver gas to them.

Now Ukraine wants to get closer to the west, and to continue to use Russian services as well. Russia is not a puppet. Either you're with them or against them. The same goes to USA. You believe US capitalistic carnivores would not cut the gas supply if Ukraine didn't pay for it? Prove me wrong.

The Russian State using Natural Gas as a political tool.

Oh and by the way - when Ukraine joins NATO and they kick out the Russian population - you can go boil your head if you think NATO will pay off Russian's crude mafia-style blackmail. - In other words you can go whistle for the money.

Even now WestEuropean countries are preparing to source Natural Gas from Nigeria and middle East via two new gas pipeline projects. Better watch out its not we that turn the taps off on Russia - the taps of European money for Russian gas! You better start being nice to us and respect us your customers a little more or we take our business elsewhere - and you starve

Really? Economic pressure has always been a political tool. They did not invent hot water.

What about democracy and human rights? You switched the record in your jukebox now, did you?

Russia already supplies Europe with 40%. And will build new pipelines over Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece. The pipelines you are talking about are far from realization.

The Chairman of Gazprom has just assumed the Presidency of Russia - I'm sure it will be your only political tool for a bit.

Nevertheless, you have an Englishman - Gordon Brown. And he's not the chairman of the world's biggest gas company and Europe's biggest supplier... What a shame...
