It is shameful what the Serbs (the butchers of the Balkans) have done to these women and many others.

But - the single most disgraceful act of the Serbs (or at least the specimens posting here) is their lack of willingness to acknowledge the crimes done in their name.

No appologies or expressions of regret from these acts and a promise to be good in the future!


I find it hard to dislike a single Nation of people, it is not within me nor is it an enlightened view - BUT I have to say the Serbs I have experienced here are vile pond life and have been discredited.

The Serb Nation exists - it is up to the rest of us to keep them in check - At the moment and since NATO taught them a lesson - all they represent are a bunch of resentful slavs. But we need to be vigulent against these beasts. As their propensity to commit crimes against humanity is clearly still with them.... simmering, awaiting to boil over once again and cause more bloodshed in this World of ours.

Serbs Rape Albanian Women at Border

SKOPJE, Macedonia--Serbian border guards have taken to adding one more atrocity to their campaign of driving ethnic Albanians from their homes in the province of Kosovo -- rape.

The women are reluctant to talk about what happens in the border post at Monice, though which more than 200,000 people have been herded over the last few weeks. But the faraway stares in their tearful eyes, their torn clothing, and the despair of their families speaks volumes.

According to human rights groups and investigators from the War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague, and some of the women themselves, Kosovo Albanian women are being picked out at the border as they wait with their families to cross into Albania, taken to a building not far away, and raped.

"There have been so many credible reports of this sort of thing that we are convinced it is part of a systematic campaign of sexual abuse," said a member of the tribunal team in Kukes, the nearest town to the border crossing.

The Serbs' method is simple. They select women as they approach the final crossing point with their families, who are ordered to keep traveling into Albania. The women are then taken away, weeping and begging for their lives. Hours, perhaps a day passes, during which they are raped and then sent away.

At Monice, their families keep a vigil standing in silent huddles by the metal barrier. Reluctant to admit what is happening to their daughters, these members of a society that views rape as the ultimate shame for a woman say, "We were separated, and praying that the Serbs will let them live."

When the young women are reunited with their families, there is no celebration that they have survived. They fall in silence into their parents' arms. Hiding their faces, they rejoin the huge throng of refugees, in silence.

Overwhelmed by the logistics of coping with an influx of refugees, the Albanian authorities and the few aid agencies that have reacted to the Kosovo catastrophe have been unable to offer any kind of help to the rape victims.

Other women, like one who spoke with Washington Post reporters, were raped by Serb soldiers before they were forced into trains that took them into exile.

The Women's Center in Albania is calling for relief for the refugees, especially women and children. It supports the NATO bombing as an attempt to save the Kosovar Albanians.

After hearing of rape incidents that happened during the war in Kosovo, I couldn't believe the excessive cases. After doing research and actually developing conversations with Bosnian co-workers back in the day, I was appalled by the cases during the Bosnia war as well. I wouldn't be surprised if women in Croatia or other countries endured the same torture.

According to what I read back then, they were held in a crowded room full of children and elderly. Then, each of the women were called to a separate room. None of them knew what was going to happen. According to one of the women being interviewed:

"Two ethnic Albanian refugees from Kosovo told Human Rights Watch yesterday that they had been raped by Serbian security forces while being held captive in Kosovo. Three other rape victims from the same village have also reported their cases to doctors in northern Albania.he house was full of members of the Serbian security forces, she told Human Rights Watch. They asked her questions, using a mixture of gestures and very basic words to communicate, as the woman hardly understood Serbian. They asked her age -- twenty-three, she said -- whether she had any children, and the whereabouts of her husband. They asked her for money.

When she told them that she had none, they ordered her to take off her clothes. She started crying and pulling out her hair, which made the men laugh. They put on some music. After she took off her clothes, the men approached her one by one as she stood before them naked.

She told Human Rights Watch that all of them looked at her, then they left her alone in the room with the man she believed to be their commander and another officer. The commander, whom she recognized as such because he had gold stars on his cap and had issued orders to others, reclined on his back about ten feet away from where the victim and the officer were lying on a bed. The man on the bed, who was nude, touched her breasts but did not force her to touch him. "I kept crying all the time and pushing his hands away," she said. "Finally he said to me, I'm not going to do anything. The commander just stared at us."
