The situation in Kosovo is especially dire for women. One of the most cruel, yet powerful weapons the Serbs used to "ethnically cleanse" was rape. The numbers are staggering. No fewer than 20,000 women were raped before NATO intervened. And the damage done is not only physical, but lingering psychological trauma that increases because the women often can't speak of what happened to them.

In general, rapes in Kosovo can be grouped into three categories: rapes in women's homes, rapes during flight, and rapes in detention. In the first category, security forces entered private homes and raped women in front of family members, in the yard or in an adjoining room. In the second category, internally displaced people wandering on foot and riding on tractors were repeatedly stopped, robbed, and threatened by the Yugoslav Army, Serbian police, or paramilitaries. If families could not produce cash, security forces sometimes threatened that their daughters would be taken away and raped; in some cases, even when families did provide money, their daughters were taken away. The third category of rapes took place in temporary detention centers, such as abandoned homes or barns.

I don't see how one can have the stomach to try to justify the unjustifiable, and even make jokes about it, when reality shows otherwise- when there's tons of proof.

There are thousands of murdered and raped Serbian women, children and old people. Far more than Albanian. Yet, we do not whine. It was war.

If you read the news, you'll learn of the UN soldiers accused of raping and human trafficking in Africa. These things do happen. And they have nothing to do with "organization and tactics". That's stupid.

No-one is whining here, I am just staing facts- rape was used as a weapon during the wars in Kosova, Croatia, and Bosnia by the Serbs. Now one could choose to deny the facts, live in denial, and try to justify the unjustifiable- but actions speak louder than words.

You can't say: it was used as a weapon by Serbs! That's hilarious! Muslims raped Serbian and Croatian women, Croats raped Serbian and Muslim women, Serbs raped all of them.

That was the bloody war, and this is Balkans.
