Dear posters:

Please review the page linked above. I took a considerable amount of time to edit and clean up this page. I have removed the personal insults and cited no one for them, in an attempt to help refocus discussion on this board.

POSTERS: When you are talking about another COUNTRY, please refer to THAT COUNTRY. When you say "you" to another poster, even when you are talking about their nation or culture, it is very difficult for people not to feel attacked, and respond in kind. These also appear to the mods to be personal insults, and it's difficult to enforce the forum rules here, as a result. The replacements in red are how I have edited the posts to help the posters see where these insult wars get started, and what needs to be done to stop them.

I want this forum to be a place where many different opinions and ethnicities are represented. I am glad that we have BOTH Serbian, Albanian, and many other posters discussing politics in Eastern Europe & Russia. However, we ALL need to take responsibility for not provoking insult matches on the threads.

The best way to prevent and stop insult wars is to cultivate mutual kind regard and respect.

Lead by example.

Be fair to all posters--not just the ones who share your ideological and political position.

Don't scapegoat. Don't humiliate or purposely harm another.

I made a positive statement in the present. You just insulted me by bringing up a past problem that I consider resolved.

Let the past be the past. Practice the restraint you describe. Make a new beginning.

How do you stop insult wars? You cease any and all posting practices that harm others--you stop purposely attacking and humiliating others.

And if you want to be respected, you lead by example.

This forum will now be less fun without those personal insult and new found respect for all other members. I feel as though I will now be less amused and my ability to offend has been reduced.

We do that by dropping grudges--we do that by letting the past by the past and focusing on the present.

No insult in my post. No nasty attempt to humiliate or abuse.

That isn't an insult, dear. It is a statement of fact. Calling people bullies, racists, bigots, and islamophobes is a personal insult.

It would be nice if all posters could avoid this behavior, from here on out. I tolerated quite a number of insults yesterday from certain posters, and did not retaliate in kind.

In point of fact, I do practice what I preach. If I want to humiliate someone, I do it by dismantling their arguments. I let their words stand for themselves.

So, you will find me a reflection of your behavior here.
