Default Ethnic Albanians attacked in Kosovo

Kosovo Police Seek Gunman's Identity

The flag of the Tsar Lazar Guard was unfurled on a south Mitrovica mosque16 June 2008 Pristina _ Kosovo police are seeking to determine the identity of a man who opened fire at officers at a police station in the ethnic Albanian-dominated part of Mitrovica.

Besim Hoti, the regional spokesperson for the Kosovo Police Service told Balkan Insight that the assailant is still being treated at Pristina University Clinical Centre and that he is unable to speak due to the state of his health.

“We are waiting for somebody from his family or relatives to come and confirm the attacker’s identity,” Hoti said.

Hoti confirmed that “the attacker fired on Kosovo Police officers upon reporting to the police station in southern Mitrovica and as a result, the officers fired back in self-defence.”

One police officer was seriously wounded.

According to the police statement, the man reported at the police station in south Mitrovica and after contact with the police, he suddenly opened fire on them.

Kosovo Serb media reported on Sunday that the identity of the attacker has been determined as Predrag Djordjevic, and it was reported that he is suspected of being a member of the Tsar Lazar Guard, a hardline Serb group that has vowed to defend Kosovo by all means against its independence from Serbia.

It is suspected that on the same day, the same attacker unfurled a flag of the Tsar Lazar Guard on one of the mosques in the southern part of Mitrovica.

We all knew this was coming. It was only a choice between whether it was the Albanians attacking Serbs again if we handed Kosovo over or Serbs initiating against Albanians under independence.

Obviously this means the Albanians have to "play nice" so to speak with the problem. As opposed the the stance of Milsovic or what we'd fear from the Serbs.

I don't understand why you keep mentioning Milosevic all the time. The guy is dead, for Christ's sake...

That incident is nothing. There will be no war in Kosovo any more, neither side is interested in provoking or waging one.

This issue has to be settled by diplomacy and negotiation. That means - going back of Belgrade and Pristina to the negotiation table again, but this time without foreign pressure.

foreign pressure made Serbia sit down and just wait it out for 18 months.with out foreign pressure you would not be here in this forum to cover Serbian war crimes and manipulating history.
You can go to Prishtina and ask for a friendly football game between Serbia and Kosovo.

Actually it would be nice if this is just an isolated thing and the countries can get along.

I mean just because you won't recognize their right to independence doesn't mean you can't do business in the meantime.

I am not "covering" Serbian war crimes. Those who committed crimes are being tried. And should be tried. I do not approve war crimes in any kind of form or shape, or any side that commits them.

Many Serbian individuals are responsible for war crimes, but you have many Albanian individuals responsible as well. I consider NATO officials to be responsible for numerous war crimes during the bombing in 1999.

Considering the new dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, that is inevitable, whether you like it or not.

As I've stated before: Serbia does not negotiate or do business with terrorists!

That's CIA's privilege

It's not the first time the terrorist organization of the Tsar Lazar Guard has attacked Albanians- before the independence as well. The same terrorist organization has even made threats on attacking UN and NATO forces.

They made threats, you say... But did they attack NATO and UN?

On the other hand, the KLA claimed to be USA's ally, after USA took them off the black terrorist list (which was a mistake). But KLA's members generously repaid Uncle Sam by (not threatening) trying to blow up Fort Dix.

Can you see the difference?
