Default Serbia gets pro-western government

The Democratic party and the Socialist party of Serbia reached an agreement considering the basic principles for the future government.

Every important player in world politics salutes this coalition: USA, EU and Russia.

Serbia continues the path toward EU and continues fighting for its southern province of Kosovo by diplomatic means. The energetic agrrement with the Russians will be ratified after the constitution of the new parliament.

We can expect political stability in the next 4-5 years, having in mind that one party took over all the power in Serbia: the parliament, the government and the president.

Good move. Being friends with both Russia and the west should put you in a very strong position.

Actually if your economy becomes strong enough would Serbians be happy forming a federation with Kosovo? Not exactly the same thing as getting it back, but presumably you'd be able to visit your monuments and stuff.

Great, I'm glad that the Socialists chose not to continue an alliance with the Radicals.

I would describe this move as excellent. Serbia always gained most while dancing between both the West and the East.

EU openly support Serbia's future membership. Russians will start building the southern stream of the gas pipelines in Serbia this year. Gas that flows toward some EU countries will have to go through Serbia first. That means offerring good deals to Serbia and cooperating with it.

EU is very aware of the black hole called Kosovo, and also of multiple benefits that would come from cooperation with Serbia. The status of independent Kosovo exists only on paper and in the heads of Albanians.

Legally, Kosovo is still Serbia, according to international law. After the economic situation gets better, and after we become the energetic leader of the Balkans, we will regain some old allies and many countries will have to revise their approach toward Kosovo.

Lets hope time is on our side

They never meant to form a coalition with the radicals. The "negotiation" with the radicals was a mask all the time, and they were playing them.

The democrats and the socialists had a secret agreement long before the elections took place.

The Socialist party of Serbia has deeply reformed. They desire EU membership of Serbia and want to enter the Socialist International. The only way for them to get into this organization is to be recommended by the Democratic party (which is a member). They also want to enter the bloc of socialist parties in the Council of Europe.

They showed political wisdom and made a good choice that can only benefit them.
