UNMIK won't support Ahtisaari plan

PRIŠTINA -- A spokesman for UNMIK in Priština said today that this UN mission will not support implementation of the Ahtisaari plan for Kosovo's supervised independence.
The reason for this, Alexander Ivanko told reporters, is that the plan was not accepted in the UN Security Council.
When asked why then this document was implemented by former UNMIK chief Joachim Ruecker, Ivanko said that "at the time, the Ahtisaari plan was the only document, while since last Friday, UNMIK has UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's report" as the basis for the mission's actions in the field.
